About

Hi, I’m Adrian.

FPA Engineers started as a folder of notes I kept emailing to teammates: “is this laptop actually worth it?”, “what’s the deal with that CVE?”, “how do I make this thing stop crashing?”. After the third “can you send me that gear list again?”, I figured the notes might as well live somewhere a search engine could find them. So here we are.

What this site is

It’s a publication for engineers and engineer-adjacent humans who care about the tools they use and the software running on them. Four things I write about, in roughly equal measure:

  • Tech News — The releases, acquisitions, outages, and quiet pivots that actually affect the people building things. No press-release reprints.
  • Gadget Reviews — Phones, laptops, peripherals, wearables, and the random USB-C dongles I have lived with long enough to have an opinion. If I haven’t used it for at least a few weeks, I won’t review it.
  • Cybersecurity — Threat reports, hardening tips, and security news in plain English. Aimed at engineers who want to defend their work, not just admire other people’s exploits.
  • How-To Guides — Step-by-step walkthroughs for setup, troubleshooting, and squeezing more out of the hardware and software you already pay for.

What this site is not

It’s not an affiliate link farm. It’s not AI-generated. It’s not a place where every gadget is somehow the best one I have ever tested. If something is mediocre, I will say so. If a piece of hardware is overpriced for what it does, I will say that too.

About me

I’ve been writing software for about a decade — mostly backend systems, with a few painful detours into firmware and a brief stint in IT support that left a permanent dent in how I think about backups and account hygiene. I’m not affiliated with any vendor, and nobody pays me to like their product.

Thanks for reading.
